I remember the first time my friend told me he goes to the airport early because he always gets stopped and searched by security. Before that, I had no clue. It wasn't in my experience. Microaggressions happen. They may be "small," but they wear--and we are called to "bear each other's burdens." So glad you were able to be with friends and be hugged and told, "that was not okay." Thank you for sharing your story, Neidy. It may be hard to talk about, but it's needed. ❤
Thank you for having the bravery to write these words, despite their difficulty. If there weren’t words put into the ethers about this, we wouldn’t be able to see the hidden sins all around us. So thank you ❤️ my jaw was dropping at all of these stories, so clearly I needed the reminder of how prevalent racism is in todays world because I’m lucky enough to not have to see it.
1. How was I not subscribed to your Substack before?? 2. Thank you for sharing. I, too would rather talk about shiny, fluffy things (*cough* Taylor *cough*), so I appreciate what it took for you to write these words. 3. The. Barbie. Soundtrack. What Was I Made For? gets me. Every. Dang. Time.

Oh friend. So glad you shared these words so we can all know and do better. Giving thanks for you and your words!
Thank you for sharing this, Neidy. It’s so eye-opening to see how racism is still so prevalent. These stories grieve me so, so much 😞
